Our client is a well establishing publishing company based in Leeds. This organisation publish a wide range of niche consumer and trade magazines and have a rapidly developing online presence. They are now seeking seeking a Marketing Manager to join their thriving publishing team
The successful applicant will be responsible for the promotion of a number of magazines. This will involve Planning and implementing the marketing and promotional plans on a variety of magazine titles. The principle objectives are to maintain/increase subscription levels and copy sales on the magazines.
Working from our Leeds office you should ideally possess a marketing degree or equivalent.
You should have excellent organisational skills, a good telephone manner, be computer literate and have the ability to communicate to senior level.
Areas of responsibility include:
• The acquisition of new subscribers, targeted promotional activity to increase sales of publication titles via key retails outlets
• Liaising with leading suppliers to secure promotional material
• Organizing and attending trade events
• Compiling and analyzing the reports to back up results.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Subscription Marketing
Set budgets and issue by issue promotional plans to recruit and retain subscribers. Carry through the execution of these promotions. This includes:
• Writing targeted copy – in magazine and direct mail, including – prospects, live and lapsed contacts
• Increase the prospects database of all titles and convert to live subscriptions
• Liaising with design department and arranging print work as required
• Preparing for monthly planning meetings – actioning meeting points and providing feedback
• Preparing subscription reports & communicating future activity for planning meetings
• Updating campaign codes spreadsheet (in order to monitor response) and liaising with subscription department
• Sourcing subscription gifts when necessary
• Producing and updating marketing calendar for all titles
Events / Show stands:
Plan, book stands / organise contra arrangements for stand space and execute including:
• Planning objectives of show stand, briefing of staff
• Organising show graphics to promote the relevant title/s
• Organising the stock, float and petty cash for shows
• Organising staffing and accommodation
• Managing the stand at the event – set up through to breakdown
• Providing post show reports including profit and loss sheets
• Review offers of sponsorship/contra deals with external shows and decide whether they are beneficial to the brand
Websites
Marketing & development of sites as required, varies across titles, includes:
• Producing and executing online & offline marketing plans
• Updating competition pages and promotional spaces monthly
• Arranging suitable house advertisement featured on relevant sites
• Regularly updating websites to promote latest offers/promotions
• Promoting our titles via other relevant websites
Magazine Cover Promotions
To successfully promote magazines via a range of cover promotions to improve newstrade sales and brand awareness of our titles. Includes:
• Involvement with sourcing promotions, visiting clients, project managing promotions through to publication – liaison between sales/editorial/client
• Sign off magazine pages – cover / editor leader / contents / next issue with editor to publicise promotions
• Evaluate success of promotions, and sales information – present to team at planning meetings
Other magazine marketing
Covering the promotion of magazine titles to both existing and potential target markets this includes:
• House advertisements (shop save, back issues, next issue, web etc)
• Competitions – sourcing appropriate prizes, liaison with client, arranging artwork, proofing to client
• Reader offers –sourcing of appropriate reader offers. Monitoring responses.
