JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Management Accountant
Reports to: Head of Finance
Reportees to: Finance Officer
Salary range: £50,000 - £60,000 – plus London weighting allowance
Location: London
Overall Objective:
To support the organisation in the successful delivery of its Fund programmes and the achievement of its strategic objectives and performance targets,
also contributing to business development, by providing expertise in support of the Head of Finance in the following areas: Budgets, Re-forecasting,
monthly Management Accounts, Audit and Compliance, quarterly VAT returns.
Main responsibilities
1. To prepare timely annual operating cost budgets and timely quarterly re-forecasting for all companies, unrestricted funds, directorates, departments, as appropriate, in liaison with directors/other budget holders and ensuring ring-fencing of accounts as appropriate.
2. To produce timely monthly Management Accounts, for operating costs, from Trial Balance for all companies, monitoring against budget and re-forecast and supporting budget holders to this end.
3. With the support of the SFO, produce a timely monthly Management Account file, including all Investment schedules, liaising with the Investment Account as required. Also, to support the Project Accountant re the preparation of Statutory accounts (Group (inc ACF), FBEFM, FBE and other as appropriate), maintaining ‘year end’ files throughout the year.
4. Ensure quarterly VAT returns are accurately produced as appropriate, review and sign as correct and complete. Supply necessary accounting figures/analysis to support Corporation Tax computations and PAYE returns.
5. To input to the maintenance and development of internal controls to ensure that a robust system is in place and documented, also bringing any new issues to the attention of the Project Accountant.
6. Input to the Finance department risk register (i.e. identification of risk and proposed mitigating action) and raising issues to the attention of the Project Accountant.
7. Provide support to the Head of Finance/Project Accountant on the external Audit, liaising with the external auditors as required/defined in the audit plan.
8. Work as a member of the Finance Management Team with the Investment Accountant and Project Accountant – planning for the Finance Team in support of the Head of Finance to ensure all deliverables are achieved, managing resource, workload, deadlines and priorities. Ensure the workload of the Finance Officers is evenly distributed to ensure the delivery of the workplan. Line management of Finance Officer and clear communication of their requirements.
9. Input to Business Development as required by supporting the Project Accountant.
10. Contribute to the effective management of the organisation
• Attendance at management groups, where required
• Liaison with internal and external auditors, as required
• Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, as identified
11. Prepare other regular financial reports for management info as required.
12. Prepare ad hoc analysis as required.
13. Input to project groups as required.
