Commercial Insurance Team Leader | Leeds | 18-27K

Our client who are a rapidly expanding Insurance company in Leeds are looking for a Commercial Team Leader.  A dynamic individual is required to help develop their small but busy Commercial Insurance team.

You will needs to be able to work on own initiative and possess excellent organisational skills.

Previous managerial experience and relevant experience in the insurance industry is essential.


Objectives of the role

• Increase levels of new business and maximise renewal retention
• To support and develop staff supervised
• Provide an efficient and first class service to clients when dealing with correspondence, telephone calls and upkeep of records
• Ensure excellent quality of documentation is produced and maintained
• Manage incoming calls, queries and diaries


New Business Quotations & Renewals

• Provide quotations for Commercial risks, Landlord, Shop, Office, Courier, HGV, and the related goods in transit and public liability.
• Ensure quotes are accurate, the client is given all the required information and that the most competitive price is offered.
• Discuss the prices quoted to the client and try to match or beat any alternative quotes the client may have had.
• Chase up any quotes that are not incepted to try and maximise the levels of new business.
• Record the client’s details and complete the required paperwork for any policies that are incepted.
• Provide re-quotes for any clients with changes in circumstances. 
• Complete the required paperwork for any policies that renew.
• Lapse off any policies that do not renew and ensure the renewal spreadsheets are kept up to date.
• Process general post including new business docs, mid term adjustments, insurer post, claims and renewal documents for the lines of business dealt with.

 

Management & Staff Development

• Take referrals/support & develop staff reporting directly to you. 
• Give staff regular feedback on performance including individual competence reports, audits, tests and appraisals.


Increase New Business Levels

• Pro-actively look for ways to increase new business including Cold Calling
• Visit businesses, contact previously lapsed or quoted clients.

Reports

• Provide monthly reports on the commission and charges earned and the renewal retention in the department.
• Investigate why policies have lapsed.
• Use this information to try and increase levels of new business and maximise renewal retention.

Fleets

• Handle all aspects of fleet policies (excluding taxi) including new business, processing renewals, MTA’s and general phone calls


Improvements

• Identify problems and barriers and consider options of how they may be overcome. 
• Use opportunities caused by change positively and look for ways to continually improve personally, within the department and for the company as a whole.
